Once the concrete is cured, the bricklayers begin to construct the retaining wall. This here is the foundations of a mass masonry wall, which will step according to the land it is retaining and will alter between a reinforced concrete and mass masonry wall.

The reinforced concrete retaining wall will have a concrete cavity between a leaf of block and brickwork. Here we can see steel starter bars resin fixed into the concrete footing with mesh reinforcement then tied onto the bars.

With block and reinforcement in place, the brickwork is then laid.

Whilst the retaining wall is being constructed, foundation trenches to the block of flats is excavated.
Concrete is then poured to mass fill the trench. Once cured the bricklayers then begin to build the substructure blockwork.

Retaining wall is now complete.
